Walking the Brooklyn Bridge

16 Dec

Our days are feeling slightly more organized now. We know we have to be back in time for a play we purchased tickets for before we left Portland.

Finally a deadline to meet. This should keep us in check.

We begin the day with a major tourist experience of walking the Brooklyn Bridge. I was braced for the very real possibility of navigating a rather narrow wooden boardwalk with several hundred other non-New Yorkers and feeling a little silly.

That stupid construct dissolved immediately when the view of the magnificent suspension cables came into my range. What a superb marvel of engineering this bridge was. The walk was unbelievably long and stupendous.

People died, tools were invented and engineering was pushed beyond its time in building this structure. It is one of those things that couldn’t be done but done it was…man predominating once again over logic and practicality.
